Since 2001, the "Master Plan for Omaha Suburban Park System" has been used extensively by the public and private sectors to guide the growth and development of parks, trails and open spaces in Omaha.

The master plan consists of two parts:  The Map shows the proposed locations of community parks, neighborhood parks, trails, boulevards and parkways in developing areas within Omaha‚Äôs planning jurisdiction.

The main Plan document outlines the philosophy of locating these features and describes the financing mechanism necessary to implement the plan. Appendix A;summarizes a review of the Plan in terms of the overall City of Omaha Master Plan. Appendix B, includes descriptions of each proposed park location, along with programmatic elements for the park. Appendix C "Boulevard Design Guidelines", is incorporated in the Plan to provide continuity in character throughout the boulevard and parkway system. Appendix D contains estimated costs of construction for each park.

The Park Planning Division administers the implementation of the Plan.
